You are invited to attend the premiere of the video, Lake Maxinkuckee: A History, on September 15 at 10:00 a.m. at the Depot in Culver.  This video, underwritten by the Marshall County Community Foundation, focuses on the history of Lake Maxinkuckee, the town of Culver, Culver Academies, and the community of residents on the lake’s shores.

The documentary explores the unique way in which those communities have intersected to create a small, close-knit town and nearby farming area as well as the cultural and literary community, which includes notables like Cole Porter, Lew Wallace, Kurt Vonnegut, Jr., and James Whitcomb Riley. The stories of the Native American community, the ice industry, and the first integrated basketball team will also be told.

There is so much interesting history packed into this video, you won’t want to miss it, if you will be in the Culver area on September 15.

The event is open to everyone and is free of charge.

We hope to see you there!
