About Us: The Culver Historical Society is a vibrant and engaging organization dedicated to the preservation, study, and presentation of the history of Culver, Lake Maxinkuckee, Culver Academies and the surrounding rural communities.
We organize educational events, exhibitions, and community outreach programs to inspire and connect individuals with local history. Our mission is to foster a deeper understanding of history and its impact on the present and future.
Position Overview: We are seeking a dynamic and energetic Culver Historical Society Administrator to lead and oversee the day-to-day operations of our society. The ideal candidate will be passionate about history, skilled in organizational management, and adept at building relationships within the community. This role requires strong leadership abilities, excellent communication skills, and a strategic mindset to drive the growth and success of our programs.
Key Responsibilities: Program Development: Help plan, develop, and implement educational programs, exhibitions, and events that engage the public and fulfill the society’s mission, in coordination with the society’s Board.
Fundraising & Grants: Assist with fundraising initiatives, grant proposals, and sponsorship opportunities to support the society’s activities and goals.
Community Engagement: Build and maintain relationships with community stakeholders, including schools, local governments, and cultural organizations. Enhance public awareness and support for the society.
Budget & Administration: Oversee the society’s budget, financial reports, and administrative functions. Ensure efficient and transparent financial management in cooperation with the Treasurer and the society’s CPA.
Marketing & Communications: In coordination with the Board, develop and execute marketing and communication strategies to promote the society’s activities and enhance its public profile. Manage social media, newsletters, membership drives and other communication channels.
Historical Research & Documentation: Assist with documentation and preservation of historical materials and resources.
Qualifications:
Proven experience in event management, fundraising, and community engagement.
Strong organizational and project management skills.
Excellent written and verbal communication abilities.
Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite and QuickBooks/Wave.
Basic skills in graphic design and web site management.
Passion for Culver history and a commitment to promoting historical understanding.
