The Vietnam War was winding down…Nixon hadn’t yet resigned…and Culver Community High School was just five years old, two drug stores in Culver still had soda fountains, and Culver Academy for Girls was just two years old. It was 1973 in Culver, and the entire year is available, full-text and searchable, to add to our existing collection of more than 20 years’ worth of Culver newspapers, which can be accessed here. After months of planning and effort, the newly renamed museum has opened at 102 W. Jefferson Street, Suite B (south entrance of the First Farmers Bank and Trust Building in downtown Culver)! The museum can be reached by phone at 574-635-0053.

We’re sharing space with the newly-opened Culver and Lake Maxinkuckee Visitor Center, and both entities held their grand openings in June during the Taste of Culver festival. Read more in the Culver Citizen coverage of the event, here.

The museum’s expanded hours are:

Monday: 9 am- 1 pm – Tuesday: Closed  – Wednesday: 10 am- 6 pm  – Thursday: 10 am- 6 pm – Friday: 10 am- 5 pm – Saturday: 9 am – 3 pm – Sunday: Closed .

Stop in and say hello to our Museum Director, Anna Campbell, and check out the new exhibits, including the ever-popular life-size recreated Lake Maxinkuckee steamboat!
