Warner Williams exhibit at museum

Earle visits his father’s exhibit

Ongoing at The Center for Culver History is a display of Culver Academy’s 20-year artist-in-residence and Culver citizen Warner Williams.  This exhibit encompasses both works of art loaned to the museum from members of the public, as well as various memorabilia from the life of one of our community’s more eccentric residents in recent decades. This includes objects on loan from his son Earle, pictured during his visit to the museum late last month.  Artists and art enthusiasts should prepare to be inspired!  The exhibit is free to the public and offers a glimpse into a local cultural icon.  The museum’s open hours (Tuesday- Friday: 12 to 6 and Saturday, 10 to 2). The museum is located on the ground floor of the Culver Library (574-842-2941). More about Warner Williams may be found here.

New notecards

Sailing Notecard, designed by Angela Ridenour

The Antiquarian and Historical Society Culver has unveiled a new series of eight historic note cards. Each card highlights an aspect of the Culver-Lake Maxinkuckee area’s rich heritage — from sailing on the lake to vintage cottages and hotels, locally grown produce, the Black Horse Troop and more!  Somewhat larger than previous cards, they are blank inside and are available in packages containing one of each of the eight cards for a $12 donation.

Sets are now available at the Center for Culver History, the AHS museum, and will shortly be available at select establishments around town.   Locations will be announced as the cards become available to them.  If you buy at the museum, AHS members always receive a 10 percent discount on merchandise.

New with this series of cards is the AHS QR code on the back of each card.  These codes allow the recipient of a card to go directly to either the AHS website or to that of local graphics designer Angela Ridenour, who produced the card images.

Cards can now be seen here
